Bitchun'
http://bitchun.org/
This is an interesting first attempt at creating an implementation of Whuffie, a form of currency described in Cory Doctorow's ( http://craphound.com/?p=147 ) book Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom which was a measure of reputation and regard from other people also using this currency. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whuffie describes it in basic terms and explains some of the subtlties of it.
After seeing the bitchun.org thing I decided I needed to write up my specification which I had been thinking about for some time, although I'd not thought about it for ages since dreaming it up. In the remembering some of the puzzles about it my concept has become clearer.
It is not complete by any means, but it you can find what I've written so far at http://ezrblwfyoyl24dar.onion/index.php/Whuffie
(requires a Tor proxy client to view/edit) and I invite anyone with thoughts about it to help me work up a proper protocol specification.
I would very much like to see whuffie become a real thing, Cory touches on something which is very crucial to the whole business of the sharing of value in his book Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom http://www.craphound.com/down/.

Hey, the link is broken, where can I see your specs?
Joe (Ad-Hoc from the Bitchun Society)
The link is not broken, if you look at it, and I made sure it was explicit, the top level domain on it is .onion
I will fix this by making a bold note beside it 'requires a tor proxy to view'
the link is broken. seriously. I've tried it on two different machines with tor installed and working fine, but your service is not reachable.
my tor client finds it just fine. i run my tor client and tor server as independent processes on my system.
i have no idea what the problem is. using tor is not a cakewalk, most of the time. email me on elfspice@gmail.com or talk to me on msn at loki_tiwaz@hotmail.com
it is not broken. i sincerely wish you to read this spec because i think that you would find it interesting.
if you can't get at http://6sxoyfb3h2nvok2d.onion/tor/FrontPage with your tor enabled browser then something is wrong with the configuration. i have posted the links in the wiki and chat section to the servers i am running.
ah crap. msn is shafting me (or gaim) hum maybe i will try using another msn client. email me and name your desired method of contact. skype even! I have been meaning to get skype going. In case it wasn't obvious, I am not really trying to stop people using my webserver without tor, i just don't want to know who they are, geographically. i want to chat, the heart and the soul is what matters to me, not this 'you are here' bs.
Ok, simple solution. come to the ORC, the onion relay chat, the main tor-only irc server, its' listed on the hidden wiki. If you can get there, i am more than happy to help you find the site.
i'm sorry this is a pain in the ass but i have no interest in directly linking my physical location to this nickname and to my hidden server. if you can get to it, then you will be anonymous to me. fairs fair don't you think?
